Angel and Spike, many years in the future (hey, they're vampires, remember?), end up on the Firefly-class starship Serenity.

25,500 words.
NC-17.
Disclaimer - None of these characters belong to me, more's the pity.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] bethynyc for help and ideas, to [livejournal.com profile] dswdiane for betas and cheerleading, and to [livejournal.com profile] maybedarkpink (apparently no longer on LJ) for sparking the original idea. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] aryas_zehral for help finding a screencap, and to everyone who commented when the earlier parts of this were a WIP that I despaired of ever finishing. Lastly, bonus thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lynnenne and [livejournal.com profile] kita0610 for creating this celebration, without which this story might never have been completed.

I'm so excited to read this, but I worked 12 hours today and am too zonked to appreciate it properly. :( I'll read it later this week when I'm more than semi-conscious and can give you proper feedback.

Yay!

This is freaking PERFECT.

I loved this the whole time you were writing it, and I had no idea where it was going. Now that I see it all in one place, all in one piece, it's amazing how you tied it all together so seamlessly.

I could hear everyone's voices, and exactly how tired Angel and Spike sound- just great writing, dude.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

And hey- can I archive it on StA for posterity??

This is just so neat. I liked how the relationship between Spike and Angel worked, and also how they fit so well in the Firefly 'verse. They seemed natural there. And Dru! so sad, but so necessary.

Great character voices--they all felt spot on.

I'm about 50% of the way through, and I really don't want to stop, but I have to work so... just wanted to say that I'm gripped, and I hope to be commenting at the end very soon! I love how the different Firefly characters are reflected in the way the view Spike and Angel, and discover their true natures.

Finally had a chance to return to this and so glad I did. I loved the Dru resolution - and the fact she'd been their purpose for so long. (But of course they don't hug). The way they eventually fitted into the crew was perfect. The ending, with pairings galore and secrets coming out, was just lovely. I could see that arrangement enduring for ages, though I'm not sure Spike and Angel in a tiny bunk on long journeys is always going to be restful for the Firefly crew!

I love this story SO MUCH.

I love Spike and Angel and how they take care of each other, how they care about each other but still won't admit it after five hundred years. I love how Angel thinks he doesn't have a mission, and how Spike has to practically smack him upside the head to help him see that he still has one.

I love how they grieve over Dru, and how drawn to her they both still are.

I love River to PIECES.

"Keep cutting 'til you see dust," River says solemnly to Spike. Her eyes are gleaming with more than a hint of madness, like an echo. "Only way to be sure." Then she hands him the knife and turns away just like nothing happened.

Very, very nice.

I love how dense Jayne is. "And hey, if you guys are playing Tic tac toe, can I play?" HEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Great characterization, great dialogue, great sex. This was a hell of a story, and a terrific read. Thank you so much for finishing it for this ficathon. <3

I absolutely loved this! You bought these too verses together brilliantly.
The characterisations were wonderful, especially Spike and Angel. The way they so obviously need and care about each other, but still can't actually admit it.

"Keep cutting 'til you see dust," River says solemnly to Spike. Her eyes are gleaming with more than a hint of madness, like an echo. "Only way to be sure." Then she hands him the knife and turns away just like nothing happened."

What a great idea for River, very clever.

Thank you for this treat, and if your muse ever takes you in this direction again, I would love to read more of their adventures together.
